Desain

Given that both are from the same series, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro share a similar aesthetic. They have the same dimensions and the same weight, but the Apple iPhone 13 is lighter. On the other hand, the iPhone 13 Pro offers a higher build quality thanks to the stainless steel frame: the standard variant has a traditional aluminum frame that is less resistant to drops and scratches. Both phones have Ceramic Shield protection and IP68 certification which makes them water and dust resistant. Furthermore, they have a notch that is 20 percent smaller when compared to the one found on the iPhone 12.

Screen

iPhone 13 and 13 Pro are equipped with a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a diagonal of 6.1 inches and Full HD+ resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels. But the iPhone 13 Pro’s display is a bit more advanced: both come with HDR10 and Dolby Vision certifications, but only the iPhone 13 Pro has a 120Hz refresh rate, while the standard version has a standard refresh rate. Furthermore, the Pro variant has a higher brightness of up to 1200 nits (peak). The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro have a notch that houses a hardware sensor for 3D facial recognition. Despite having an OLED screen, neither of these devices has a fingerprint reader due to the presence of Face ID which is their primary authentication.

Specifications & Software

The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro are powered by the same processor: Apple A15 Bionic built at 5 nm which is one of the most advanced processors in the entire smartphone market. What has changed in their hardware department is the RAM: you only get 4GB RAM for the standard variant and 6GB for the Pro variant. Furthermore, the iPhone 13 Pro has an additional configuration with 1 TB of internal storage, while the iPhone 13 offers up to 512 GB of native storage. The phones run iOS 15 out of the box and they will be getting major updates for seven years.

Camera

With the iPhone 13 Pro, you get a better camera setup and more cameras on the back. In addition to the 12 MP main sensor with an f/1.5 aperture (brighter than the iPhone 13’s f/1.6 aperture), there are also three other sensors: a 12 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, a 12 MP ultrawide sensor, and a TOF 3D LiDAR scanner for AR equipment. The vanilla iPhone 13 only has a dual camera and the secondary sensor is a 12 MP ultrawide camera like the Pro version, but with a darker focal aperture: f/2.4 instead of f/1.8.

Battery

Price aside, the only advantage the iPhone 13 has over its Pro sibling is battery life. The vanilla version has a bigger battery than the Pro variant, so the battery life can be longer. The charging technology is the same.
